Sumario: | A switched capacitor array ( SCA) will provide analogue storage for the cathode readout of the cathode strip chambers in the endcap muon system of CMS. After a series of smaller prototypes, the first iteration of the full-sized 16-channel, 96-cell per channel SCA ASIC is undergoing precision testing using a specially designed test board. The chip has reasonable linearity, and as a result of several innovative design features, exhibits a remarkably low level of cell-to-cell pedestal variation and cross-talk. Future development will focus on reducing output amplifier overshoot and increasing readout speed. |
