description | We report simulation results for the LHC Higgs search with two charged leptons ( electrons or muons) and missing energy from the decay chain H --> W+W- --> l+ nu l'- nu. It is shown that a few simple experimental criteria allow to distinguish between events originating from H --> W+W- and the non resonant production of W+W- X at the LHC. We also include backgrounds from t t and Wt( b) production. Using the latest Higgs cross section estimates this mode gives very good statistical evidence and reasonable signal to background ratios for Standard Model Higgs masses between 120--400 GeV. We also comment on the feasability of this signal for Higgs searches in the MSSM. |
