Sumario: | A study of degradation of calorimeter response to charged pions after 10 years of LHC operation is performed. The used simulation model includes description of light yield reduction of HE scintillating tiles due to irradiation. This effect is the most severe in the rapidity region about 3 where HE expected to be not covered by ECAL. Several design options of HE edge were considered in order to mitigate radiation damage effects. It was shown that almost full compensation can be achieved by appropriate recalibration of HE tower signals within some of considered design options. |
