description | The CMS experiment at the CERN LHC collider is producing large amounts of simulated data in order to provide an adequate statistic for Trigger System design. The event simulation process is composed by several steps and each step needs specific bookkeeping in order to assure the quality of the data produced. Furthermore production is carried on at several production centers, each one with its own hardware and software setup. In this work we present BOSS (Batch Object Submission System). BOSS provides real time monitoring and bookkeeping of jobs. Different job types can be registered to the BOSS System, allowing the storage on a local database of information specific to the task that is being performed by the job itself. BOSS is configured as an interface to local batch schedulers, providing a unique interface to the batch facilities. The use of BOSS as an interface to a GRID scheduler is also discussed. |
