Azimuthal Anisotropy and Jet Quenching in Heavy Ion Collisions with CMS Calorimetry

The azimuthal anisotropy of energy flow and jet production in semi-central heavy ion collisions are among the most promising observables of partonic energy loss in quark-gluon plasma. A method to reconstruct the nuclear event plane with CMS calorimetric information is discussed. In addition, a techn...

Sumario:The azimuthal anisotropy of energy flow and jet production in semi-central heavy ion collisions are among the most promising observables of partonic energy loss in quark-gluon plasma. A method to reconstruct the nuclear event plane with CMS calorimetric information is discussed. In addition, a technique to measure the jet azimuthal anisotropy without reconstruction of the reaction plane is presented.
