Sumario:<HTML> <HEAD> <h2>Abstract</h2> </HEAD> <P> <BODY> <P> The capabilities of the ALICE detector to measure e&#181; coincidence is investigated by means of fast simulations. The detector acceptance is modelled by means of geometrical cuts only and assumes a full efficiency. It is shown that the measurement of e&#181; pairs would provide a high statistics determination of the correlated charm and bottom production cross-sections in a rapidity region intermediate between the central part and the forward part of ALICE sub-detectors. The background subtraction is investigated by means of the so called event mixing and the like-sign techniques. It is demonstrated that, due to neutral bottom meson oscillation, the like-sign method fails as soon as the spectra contain a sizeable fraction of leptons from bottom decay. </BODY> </HTML>
