Sumario: | We present the basic ideas for the design of the support cone for the Inner Tracking System (ITS) of the ALICE experiment. The ITS will have a structure mechanically independent from other detectors, which can be preassembled and aligned accurately before final installation in the experiment. The choice of candidate materials for the supporting structure is done under the general requirement of the total mass minimization as well as dimension stability maximization, better than 50 m over ~ 1 m. Results of finite element analysis of the behaviour of three different solutions are Abstract: presented. |
