description This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of 60 High-Temperature Superconducting (HTS) current leads for the LHC. Following a market survey carried out among 49 firms in nine Member States, a call for tenders (IT-3168/AT/LHC) was sent on 10 September 2003 to 12 firms in six Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received nine tenders from nine firms in five Member States. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with CECOM (IT), the lowest bidder, for the supply of 60 HTS current leads for a total amount of 1 347 240 Swiss francs, not subject to revision, with options for the purchase of an additional 10 current leads, for an additional amount of 240 600 Swiss francs, not subject to revision, bringing the total amount to 1 587 840 Swiss francs, not subject to revision. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: IT - 90%; FR - 10%.
