description | The channel B0->D*pi provides a theoretically clean way to measure the CKM angle gamma. This note investigates the viability of a measurement of gamma with B0->D*pi at LHCb. Efficient methods for the reconstruction of B0->D*pi events are developed, allowing the inclusive reconstruction of all B0->D*pi events with subsequent D*->D0pi decays, irrespective of the decay mode of the D0. It is shown how the B0 4-momentum can be fully reconstructed despite the missing D0 information. Using the LHCb detector simulation program SICb, reconstruction efficiencies and signal to background ratios are estimated. It is demonstrated that the channel B0->D*pi can provide a precision in gamma of a few degrees after one year of LHCb data taking. |
