description The TDR design of the LHCb RICH system has been modelled in the GEANT based simulation program, SICB, and events subjected to full reconstruction and pattern recognition. Distributions are presented characterising the RICH performance, and the particle identification results are shown in various physics channels of interest. The stability of these results are assessed with respect to changes in some assumptions and components of the simulation. The origin and nature of particles giving rise to the detected Cherenkov rings are investigated.
