B0->pi+pi-pi0 reconstruction with the re-optimized LHCb detector

The study of the reconstruction of the B0 -> pi+ pi- pi0 decay mode is presented. The various kinematical regimes present over the whole Dalitz plot are outlined as well as the consequences on the selection. In order to optimize the selection two sets of cuts are defined depending on the pi0 reco...

description The study of the reconstruction of the B0 -> pi+ pi- pi0 decay mode is presented. The various kinematical regimes present over the whole Dalitz plot are outlined as well as the consequences on the selection. In order to optimize the selection two sets of cuts are defined depending on the pi0 reconstruction (resolved or merged pi0). The advantage of use of a combined variable is also demonstrated. Using fast Monte-Carlo techniques, it is also shown that, even without the use of the low momentum pi0, the angle alpha of the CKM matrix can still be extracted.
