Sumario:This report describes the conceptual design of the main shielding wall which is required for protecting against radiation the counting rooms of LHCb in the underground experimental area (UX85) at Point 8. The radiation simulations have been performed using the Monte Carlo code FLUKA97. The results, defining the main characteristics of the shield are presented. The major implications to the existing facilities and services, generated from the erection of the wall, dividing the existing cavern in the two areas, are investigated and the engineering solutions for the modifications are explored. The most appropriate methods of construction for erecting the shielding wall are detailed and compared. Preliminary cost estimates and planning are also mentioned.1
