Power converter failure of the normal conducting D1 magnet at experiment insertions IR1 and IR5

description Power converter failures of the warm D1 magnets at the high luminosity experiment insertions IR1 and IR5 can lead to beam losses in the collimation insertion of IR7 within a few turns. The note presents the results obtained with a fast linear particle tracking for a tripping of the power converter of the normal conducting D1 magnets. The data was cross-checked with MAD-X including non-linear magnetic fields. Losses were determined at several collimator and absorber locations sitting close to the beam. Apertures at loss locations were treated as black absorbers.
