Sumario: | A loss detection system is proposed here for the arcs of LHC. The detectors will be placed outside the cryostat along the short straight sections. The main problem is to evaluate the radiation produced at the detectors as a function of the proton loss. This has been done with a detailed 3-D geometry of the half-cell and a Monte Carlo simulation of the shower computed by the code GEANT 3.21 [1]. The results show a complete independence of losses in both beam and determine the exact positions for the loss detectors. |
