description | This note summarises the results from two MD sessions dedicated to investigating the present beam current and single bunch current limits in LEP. During the first MD, the single beam and two beam limits were established for 4x4 operation under the same machine conditions. In addition, during the same the two-beam limits were measured for bunch train operation with 6 and 8 bunches per beam. During the second MD an attempt was made to accumulate with a higher value of the synchrotron tune. In this case the machine parameters were tuned to maximise the stored intensity in a single bunch. The maximum accumulated bunch current was 910mA, which agrees (to within ~5%) with the limit found during operation in 1995 for a similar $Q_s$. In both cases the maximum intensity was apparently not limited by TMCI |
