Sumario: | A sizeable fraction of the electron created in the muon storage ring have an energy not far from that of the muons. Therefore a part of those electrons emitted in the straight sections can propagate along the section and get lost in the first elements of the arcs. The associated power loss is estimated to be substantially larger than that associated with the local muon decay in the first elements of the arcs. It is important to take this power into account in the design of the cooling of these elements in order to avoid hot spots in the arcs. |
