Resonance Driving Terms experiment in the SPS at 26GeV in 2001.

description Since 1999 systematic studies on the measurement of resonance driving terms in the SPS have been performed. The aim of these experiments is to test the technique proposed by R. Bartolini and F. Schmidt, which relates the non--linearities of the machine with the Fourier spectrum of turn by turn pick--up data. Since the SPS is a linear machine the extraction sextupoles were used to create a controllable amount of non--linearity. This is the first such MD after a general intervention in SPS for impedance reduction by shielding of the vacuum ports, elimination of lepton RF cavities, etc. Thus, this experiment was mainly devoted to the study and set-up of the bare machine. Also a new technique to measure chromaticity was studied using BPM data after an RF kick.
