2001 SPS Measurements and Modelling of Nonlinear Chromaticity and Detuning with Amplitude at 26 Gev

During SPS MD in July 2001, nonlinear chromaticity and amplitude-dependent detuning were measured both with a 48-bunch LHC batch and with a single bunch at 26 GeV. Following the procedure developed in Ref. 1, we fit the data to an SPS optics model, and, thereby, determine the magnitude of sextupole...

Sumario:During SPS MD in July 2001, nonlinear chromaticity and amplitude-dependent detuning were measured both with a 48-bunch LHC batch and with a single bunch at 26 GeV. Following the procedure developed in Ref. 1, we fit the data to an SPS optics model, and, thereby, determine the magnitude of sextupole and decapole components in the SPS dipole magnets and octupole components in the quadrupoles, respectively, which would be consistent with the measurements. In this way an updated optics model for the SPS has been obtained.
