Optics Matching Knobs for Injection from PS to SPS (TT2/TT10) Constructed by SAD Code
It is important to transfer beam from PS to SPS without blowing up of emittance due to optics mis-matching of the TT2/TT10 transfer line and the SPS ring. Eight optics parameters, alpha_x, beta_x, D_x, D^\prime_x, alpha_y, beta_y, D_y, D^\prime_y, must be adjusted for injection matching. The matchin...

Sumario: | It is important to transfer beam from PS to SPS without blowing up of emittance due to optics mis-matching of the TT2/TT10 transfer line and the SPS ring. Eight optics parameters, alpha_x, beta_x, D_x, D^\prime_x, alpha_y, beta_y, D_y, D^\prime_y, must be adjusted for injection matching. The matching knobs are a useful tool to search the optimum values, independently, for each of these parameters. To choose the best combination of quadrupole magnets to be used, the Singular Value Decomposition method(SVD) is employed, using SAD code. Similar attempts were made in the past and references therein. Here, we normalize the parameters by equivalent blow-up factors, so that their values have equal weights. In the simulation, the knobs for the horizontal plane are not fully orthogonal, but those for the vertical plane promise a good performances. |
