description The TDI (Injection Stoppers) and TCDD (Injection Collimators) for LHC are mobile beam obstacles that will protect the superconducting machine elements during injection. Simulations have been performed to investigate the TDI and TCDD performances and optimise their design. Mechanical aspects are not treated in the present work, and further definition of the details of the design is left to a conclusive report. The need for the TCDD collimator has been demonstrated. The original design goal, that was to prevent quenches in pilot bunch operation and damage in all faulty conditions, has been upgraded to prevent quenches in all cases not involving a MKI (Injection kicker) failure.
