Sumario: | A MATLAB-based program has been developed to assist the system designer in the hardware specification phase of a new LLRF digital beam control system for LEIR. The program carries out a simulation of one part of the DSP-based system, thereby assisting the designer deciding hardware specifications, such as digital receivers' decimation rate range and master DDS harmonic number range. The program also helps determining how and at what rate these figures must be varied by the DSP, thus contributing to the software design. The simulation depends on fixed hardware constraints and user-selected input data such as beam cycle type. Already covering other accelerators in the LHC injector complex (PS and PS Booster) in addition to LEIR, this program is extendable to other schemes and configurations and it constitutes a first step towards a more refined system simulation. |
