Proposal to negotiate amendments to an existing contract for the supply, installation and testing at CERN of four vertical compound cryogenic transfer lines for the LHC

This document concerns the proposal to negotiate amendments to an existing contract for the supply, testing and installation of four vertical cryogenic transfer lines for the LHC. For the reasons explained in this document, the Finance Committee is invited to approve amendments to the existing contract for the supply and installation of vertical cryogenic transfer lines for the LHC with the consortium LINDE (DE) - BABCOCK BORSIG POWER (DE) for an amount exceeding the previously approved amount by 650 000 euros (992 245 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, bringing the total contract amount to a maximum of 3 964 300 euros (6 052 245 Swiss francs), not subject to revision. The rate of exchange used is that stipulated in the initial tender (CERN/FC/4390). The consortium has declared the following origin of the equipment covered by this contract: DE - 94%; PT- 6%.
