description This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply and installation of an underground cooling plant for the CMS detector. Following a market survey carried out among 111 firms in fifteen Member States, a call for tenders (IT-3255/TS/CMS) was sent on 4 March 2004 to six firms and four consortia in eight Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received five tenders from four firms and one consortium in four Member States. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with ZEC (PL), the lowest bidder, for the supply and installation of an underground cooling plant for the CMS detector for a total amount of 3 825 632 Swiss francs, not subject to revision. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: PL - 80%; DE - 5%; ES - 5%; FR - 5%; IT - 5%.
