The estimation of beam losses due to charge exchange with the residual gas in a cyclotron
The estimation of beam losses due to charge exchange with the residual gas in a cyclotron intended for acceleration of sub 8 sub 4 Kr sup 1 sup 7 sup + ions from energy 0.003 to 2.4 MeV/nucleon is presented. The transmission factor of sub 8 sub 4 Kr sup 1 sup 7 sup + ions is greater than 60 % if ave...

description | The estimation of beam losses due to charge exchange with the residual gas in a cyclotron intended for acceleration of sub 8 sub 4 Kr sup 1 sup 7 sup + ions from energy 0.003 to 2.4 MeV/nucleon is presented. The transmission factor of sub 8 sub 4 Kr sup 1 sup 7 sup + ions is greater than 60 % if average pressure is smaller than 10 sup - sup 6 Torr for designed accelerating voltage V = 50 kV and 9 centre dot 10 sup - sup 7 Torr for V = 40 kV. Accelerating voltage decrease to 40 kV follows to beam intensity increase by 8 % from initial intensity in comparison with the designed value. |
