Sumario: | A novel method for obtaining the space-drift time relationship r(t) of the ATLAS muon spectrometer monitored drift tubes (MDTs) from measured drift times, the so-called autocalibration procedure, is presented. Unlike existing methods, it is mathematically well-funded and makes use of the standard minimization tool MINUIT. Its performance is superior to that of the existing methods, which is demonstrated both with a toy simulation and with real data collected in the X5 test beam line in 2003. |
