Cycling of the PS complex and the SPS analysis and possibilities for optimisation

Sumario: | Presently the lengths of the different cycles of all the PS-Complex proton accelerators are integer multiples of a so called “basic period” of 1.2 s duration. The basic period is the smallest unit in terms of repetition time for all accelerators. In this note, the effect of a reduction of the basic period length on the different accelerators and cycles is analysed. The aim is to identify improvement possibilities to increase the proton flux available for the different physics users. |
