Sumario:This note presents details of the study and development of a flexible framework of (software) tools and methods which enables the use of a weights method to compute the signal amplitude from the raw ECAL time samples in the 2003 testbeam data.This new framework results in a simplified, robust and precise energy determination. The specific issues related to both testbeam and CMS operation are addressed and its characteristics and performance are discussed using data collected during the 2003 testbeam campaign.
