Sumario:The measurement of jets and missing transverse energy reconstruction will play an important role for many physics channels at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The performance of the ATLAS detector for reconstructing jets and missing transverse energy has been evaluated using detailed simulations. In this paper results based on these simulations will be shown for the jet energy resolution, in addition to some selected examples of the simulated jet and missing transverse energy physics performance. Special emphasis will be put on the experimental aspects like electronic and pile-up noise, noncompensation, and dead material, as well as their realisation in the simulation. (4 refs).
