Sumario: | Pauli writes that he and his wife decided to go to Stockholm on the occasion of this year's Nobel celebration, and he will give his lecture there on December 12th. There would be a good opportuniy to see the Bohrs in Copenhagen afterwards. He should be glad to hear as soon as possible whether this will be convenient to Bohr. He has read with great interest Bohr's paper "Problems of elementary particle physics". Joost also reported Bohr's excuse that the paper is too "dilettantic". Pauli is quite well aware of the complementarity between "dilettantic" and mathematical high-brow "fachmässig" way to treat problems particularly, if the "Fachleute" are unable to solve them. His impression of Bohr's paper was a strange one: he found the first paragraph very good and also the last one. He found the longer part in the middle not sufficiently connected with the initial and concluding questions. |
