The renovation of the SPS Trajectory/Orbit systems

The current SPS Trajectory / Orbit measurement systems have been used successfully for several years. Recent demands such as long SPS cycles, new middleware and a drive to harmonise all BDI instruments under a common framework have triggered a reengineering of the systems to prepare them for the LHC era. This note describes these demands and the associated problems, and outlines the new software and hardware that will be used to resolve these issues.
