First Step to an Optimisation of the Electromagnetic L0 Trigger

Electrons (and positrons) and photons coming from B-decays usually have bigger transverse momentum than other electrons and positrons coming from a pp collision. This is used by the LHCb L0 trigger to suppress background by identifying high transverse energy ECAL clusters as electrons and photons (u...

description Electrons (and positrons) and photons coming from B-decays usually have bigger transverse momentum than other electrons and positrons coming from a pp collision. This is used by the LHCb L0 trigger to suppress background by identifying high transverse energy ECAL clusters as electrons and photons (using PRS and SPD) and performing a transverse energy cut accordingly. In this note a new SPD/PRS L0 settings is proposed to improve this part of the L0 trigger.
