The 14 MW stabilized rectifiers for the main magnet of the CERN intersecting storage rings

The main magnets of the intersecting storage rings of the European Organisation for Nuclear Research-CERN-are powered by two 7 MW thyristor rectifiers, each supplying a maximum current of 3750 A at 1850 V. After a general survey special attention is paid to the smoothing and regulation circuits.
