Reaction pp to pp2 pi /sup +/2 pi /sup -/ at 3.6 GeV/c

Among some 24000 six-prong interactions of 3.6 GeV/c antiprotons in the CERN 2 m HBC, 30 events compatible with the process pp to pp2 pi /sup +/2 pi /sup -/ have been recorded. The cross-section for this reaction at 3.6 GeV/c is found to be sigma =(9+or-2) mu b. (8 refs).
