Sumario: | This paper describes a front-end concentrator multiplexer system for asynchronous time sharing consoles operating on a minicomputer which has recently been put into operating at CERN. The concentrator will control up to 36 consoles at speeds between 110 and 9600 bits per second and has the capability of dynamically connecting these consoles to several large Host Computers. Details are given on all the CERN developed hardware, including: (a) Host-Concentrator Coupler, (b) Console Interface cards with software selectable line speeds, (c) Data transmission equipment. Furthermore, the paper describes some of the software as well as the techniques used to test the system with simulated users. (10 refs). |
