Non-convective parametric instability associated with whistler wave resonance cone
Experimental results are presented which show that under certain conditions typical of laboratory and ionospheric plasmas the whistler wave parametric instability is restricted in space to regions of large gradients in amplitude of the pump wave. (8 refs).
