Mass spectra and double N* excitation from the double-diffractive reaction pp $\rightarrow$(p$\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$) (p$\pi^{+}\pi^{-} in the ISR energy range

Experimental results on the reaction pp to (p pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/)(p pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/) detected with the split field magnetic facility at CERN intersecting storage rings are reported for energies between 23 and 53 GeV.
