Sumario: | Describes a front-end concentrator multiplexor system for asynchronous time sharing consoles operating on a minicomputer which has recently been put into operation at CERN. The concentrator will control up to 36 consoles at speeds between 110 and 9600 bits per second and has the capability of dynamically connecting these consoles to several large Host Computers. Some of the software as well as the techniques used to test the system with simulated users are described. The system runs on an HP 2100 minicomputer and special purpose microcode is used to optimize console handling and facilitate the implementation of the system. The Host computers used are the CDC 6000 series computers using the Intercom time sharing system. (10 refs). |
