Compatibility of old and new pi N charge-exchange results
Results for d sigma /dt( pi /sup -/p to pi /sup 0/n) for 5-18 and 20-101 GeV/c from CERN and FNAL respectively, are compatible with a single set of rho -Regge pole parameters, contrary to first appearances. These data are simultaneously fitted to a rho + rho ' parametrization, together with pol...

Sumario: | Results for d sigma /dt( pi /sup -/p to pi /sup 0/n) for 5-18 and 20-101 GeV/c from CERN and FNAL respectively, are compatible with a single set of rho -Regge pole parameters, contrary to first appearances. These data are simultaneously fitted to a rho + rho ' parametrization, together with polarizations, cross section differences Delta sigma /sub t/= sigma ( pi /sup -/p)/sup -/( pi /sup +/p), and continuous moment sum rules. A small discrepancy with Delta sigma /sub t/ remains, possible to systematic error or a 1/2% charge- symmetry breakdown. (10 refs). |
