The phase $\Phi_{+-}$ of CP violation in the $K^{0}\rightarrow\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ decay

The phase phi /sub +-/ is evaluated on the basis of measurements of the K/sub S/-K/sub L/ interference in the pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/ decay mode and the mass difference Delta m. The result is: phi /sub +-/=45.9 degrees +or-1.6 degrees . This, together with previous results on mod eta /sub +-/ mod , mo...

Sumario:The phase phi /sub +-/ is evaluated on the basis of measurements of the K/sub S/-K/sub L/ interference in the pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/ decay mode and the mass difference Delta m. The result is: phi /sub +-/=45.9 degrees +or-1.6 degrees . This, together with previous results on mod eta /sub +-/ mod , mod eta /sub 00// eta /sub +-/ mod and the charge asymmetry delta in leptonic decay, is compared with the prediction of the superweak model, with good agreement. Finally the result is used to find, on the basis of unitarity, a new upper limit on CP violation in the decay K degrees to 3 pi degrees . This limit is mod eta /sub 000/ mod /sup 2/<or approximately=0.21.
