description The matrix element of the three pion decay mode of the kaon is expressed in terms of Mandelstam variables. An analysis of the Dalitz plot density distribution gives information on the parameters of the expression. From an analysis of the decays of stopping K/sup +/ mesons involving neutral pions in the CERN heavy-liquid bubble chamber filled with a propane ethane mixture, it is concluded that the energy dependence of the decay matrix element is compatible with a linear behaviour.
