Pion exchange in inclusive neutron production at very high energies
The authors consider the two processes p+p to n+X and p+n to p+X, recently observed at CERN ISR and Fermilab (see Phys. Rev. Lett., vol.34, p.1475 of 1975). Cross-section discrepancies indicate that one of these experiments is in error. They show that the data can be fitted to an elementary pion wit...

Sumario: | The authors consider the two processes p+p to n+X and p+n to p+X, recently observed at CERN ISR and Fermilab (see Phys. Rev. Lett., vol.34, p.1475 of 1975). Cross-section discrepancies indicate that one of these experiments is in error. They show that the data can be fitted to an elementary pion with transverse-momentum cut-off on the one hand, and Reggeized pion exchange on the other. (11 refs). |
