Atomic physics checks of parity violation

Sumario:The results of the new run of measurements of the parity violation in atomic bismuth on /sup 4/S/sub 3/2/-/sup 2/D/sub 5/2/ MI-transition at lambda =648 nm are presented. The value R=Im(EI/MI) measured on F=6- F'=7 and F=6-F'=6 hyperfine structure components is found to be (-20.6+or-3.2).10/sup -8/. The average value for all the measurements (R)=(-20.2+or-2.7).10/sup -8/ is in agreement with the theoretical prediction obtained in the framework of the standard gauge model with sin/sup 2/ theta =0.25.
