Sumario:First published in Atomnaija Energija, no.5, 1956 and presented at the CERN symposium 1956. The author considers a stabilised electron beam in toroidal geometry. This is an intense beam of relativistic electrons whose charge is fully or partially compensated by ions. The focusing of ions would be much stronger than in conventional accelerators so that much greater ion space charge could be accommodated. (2 refs).
