New isotopes /sup 73/Zn and /sup 74/Zn

The decay characteristics of the new neutron-rich isotopes /sup 73/Zn and /sup 74/Zn have been investigated using isotopically separated samples produced by the ISOLDE on-line facility. Beta and gamma -ray spectra are recorded, partly in coincidence, by means of a Ge(Li) and a plastic detector. Beta...

description The decay characteristics of the new neutron-rich isotopes /sup 73/Zn and /sup 74/Zn have been investigated using isotopically separated samples produced by the ISOLDE on-line facility. Beta and gamma -ray spectra are recorded, partly in coincidence, by means of a Ge(Li) and a plastic detector. Beta end-point energies have been determined from the Fermi-Kurie plot as well as from a cube-root plot. The Q-values of /sup 73/Ga and /sup 74/Ga are remeasured to 1.61+or-0.10 MeV and 5.3+or-0.2 MeV. The following half-lives and Q-values are assigned to the new Zn isotopes: /sup 73/Zn: T/sub 1/2/=23.5+or-1.0 sec, Q/sub beta />or=4.7 MeV, /sup 74/Zn: T/sub 1/2/=98+or-2 sec, Q/sub beta />or =2.1 MeV.
