Sumario:Two models of weak and electromagnetic interactions are described which are based on the spontaneously broken gauge group associated with SU(2)*U(1). In the first model the neutrino does not appear in the neutral current in the second it appears only in combination with a heavy neutral lepton. As a consequence, elastic neutrino-proton scattering and elastic mu -neutrino electron scattering are absent in both models. The extension to hadrons is discussed. Finally, a number of observations on unified theories are made. (3 refs).
