Some properties of inclusive reactions pi /sup -/p to pi /sup +or- /+ and pi /sup -/n to pi /sup +or-/+ at the momentum of 40 GeV /c

Experimental data on inclusive reactions pi /sup -/p to pi /sup +or- /+... and pi /sup -/n to pi /sup +or-/+... at p=40 GeV/c is presented. The absolute cross section of the reaction pi /sup -/p to pi /sup +or- /+... at x approximately=0 coincides with the results obtained at ISR (CERN) at E/sub p/=500-1500 GeV. A similar result has been obtained for inclusive processes pi /sup -/p to gamma +..., as well. Thus, in the 'central region' the structure functions are similar for pi /sup - /p and pp collisions at E/sub p/=500-1500 GeV. If the scale invariance in pp collisions takes place at E/sub p/ approximately=1000 GeV, in pi /sup -/p interactions one can observe it already at p=40 GeV/c. (7 refs).
