Sumario: | Describes an approach to N=1 supergravity which is both geometric (i.ee. formulated in superspace) and minimal. Its main features are: 1) It is based on a clear and simple geometric picture; 2) the gauge group is the smallest possible; 3) the only independent dynamical variable is the axial superfield (SF) H/sup m/( chi , theta , theta ); 4) the components of the torsions T/sub AB//sup C/ and curvature R/sub ABC//sup D/ tensors are expressed in terms of H/sup m/; 5) the action principle is straightforward, i.e. the equations of motion are directly obtained by varying H/sup m/ in the action; 6) a special gauge (called 'normal gauge') can be introduced in which a lot of the derivatives of H/sup m/ vanish at a given point in superspace.
