Quark-antiquark potential in QCD
The potential energy of colour sources as a function of their separation is computed up to two loops; the renormalization group equations it satisfies are derived. This enables us to obtain beta (g) to O(g/sup 5/) and recover its known value. The solution of this Callan-Symanzik equation to O(g/sup...

Sumario: | The potential energy of colour sources as a function of their separation is computed up to two loops; the renormalization group equations it satisfies are derived. This enables us to obtain beta (g) to O(g/sup 5/) and recover its known value. The solution of this Callan-Symanzik equation to O(g/sup 5/) leads to a colour-confining potential. A qualitative argument is given to reject it as an artifact of the approximation used. (11 refs). |
