Sumario: | Experimental data available at FNAL and CERN-ISR leads to the following phenomenological observations: Inelastic collisions consist of diffractive (D) and nondiffractive (ND) components. The ND component dominates over the D component in multi-particle production. The ND component is in turn dominantly controlled through the short- range rapidity correlation (SRRC) mechanism with a minor correction from the long-range rapidity correlation (SRRC) mechanism with a minor correction from the long-range rapidity correlation mechanism. The bare ND overlap function is described through the SRRC component and reasonably well represented by the factorizable, simple-pole Pomeron. The possibility of building up an explicit model of absorptive multiperipheralism which is not only consistent with the D peripherality but also guarantees automatically the ND two-component stability is examined.
