How asymptotic freedom predictions for R= sigma (e/sup +/e/sup -/ to hadrons)/ sigma (e/sup +/e/sup -/ to mu /sup +/ mu /sup -/) lead to a paradox
Describing the total cross-section via the one-hadron inclusive distribution e/sup +/e/sup -/ to h+X, one is led into a contradiction to the asymptotic freedom (naive quark-parton model) result R= Sigma Q /sub i//sup 2/. (12 refs).
